In case you missed it, Jane was sucked into an alternate reality through a tear in the time space continuum. Beta flew her spaceship through a worm hole so that she and Alt-Jane cold join forces to rescue Real Jane from the clutches of (not so) evil Dorothy. Confused? Oh, wait, and Chelle was in the alternative reality too, channeling Furiosa…
Alt-Jane had no fear. She confronted her ex-girlfriend, evil Dorothy. (Who stole evil Willow’s outfit, apparently.)
Nothing is as powerful as a donut-shaped circle of Jane’s in red Chucks!
Not sure why, but Monday’s comic didn’t load properly. Here are the three most recent Jane’s World comics to catch you up.
For some reason there were technical difficulties on the GoComics site (and I’m not ruling out user error) because I started uploading the comics in a different format this week. At any rate, here’s your chance to catch up all in one post. Enjoy 🙂
The thing about cartooning is that it is a lonely endeavor. Usually you do it at home, at night, after you’re off duty from your day job. If you’re like most cartoonists you do comics around the edges of everything else in your life. That can sometimes get discouraging. Then you attend San Diego Comic Con (or some other similar event) and you’re reminded that you’re not alone and you’re also reminded of how much you LOVE comics. You come home feeling rejuvenated and inspired. At least that was my experience this year. So one day of “Jane” this week on GoComics just wasn’t enough for me. I hope you enjoy the week.
I’ll be at the Charles M Schulz Museum and Research Center Saturday, April 29th as part of their author series. I won’t be reading comics, I’ll be reading from the Jane’s World prose novel published last year by Bold Strokes Books. The expanded story of Jane and her pals is full of humor and at times, sexy exploits.
Please join me for the reading. I’ll also be signing novels written under my pen name, Missouri Vaun.
Where: Charles M Schulz Museum and Research Center, 2301 Hardies Ln, Santa Rosa, California 95403
When: Saturday, April 29 at 2 PM – 4 PM
Why: Because everyone needs a little humor in their life!
Jane’s World and the Case of the Mail Order Bride
Jane’s PayBuddy account gets hacked and she inadvertently purchases a mail-order bride from Transnistria. Jane doesn’t realize she’s about to embark on her honeymoon until the bride, Natasha, shows up on her doorstep, with luggage. Jane’s roommate, Ethan, can’t stop drooling over sexy Natasha. Luckily, after the demise of the local newspaper, Jane has just taken a job at the public library where she has lots of coworkers smarter than she is that she enlists to help her figure a way out of this accidental marriage. Natasha believes if she can get Jane to consummate their marriage that, according to California’s new state rulings on same-sex marriage, she’ll be a US citizen. But is that all she’s really after? Or does true romance begin to bloom between Natasha and Jane? If Jane’s part-time girlfriend, Dorothy, has anything to say about it, the answer is no!
The trouble with exes is that you never know when they’re going to show up, or with whom. And even if you’re sure that breaking up was the right thing to do (which Dorothy isn’t so sure about) you definitely don’t want to see them on a date with someone you think is hotter than you are. And not at the same restaurant! Especially when all you wanted was a fun dinner out with a friend who promised to cheer you up. There aren’t enough margaritas in the world for this sort of scenario… as Dorothy is about to find out.

In the past couple of weeks Natasha made her debut in Jane’s World as Jane’s unexpected and intimidating mail order bride. It’s always tricky to add a new character to a cast that’s well established. I started drawing Jane in earnest back in 1995 and at this point I could probably draw her crazy hair with my eyes closed. But Natasha is another story… I’m still getting used to her face and her curves. Bear with me as she and I get to know each other. (And just wait until she meets Chelle.)
New installments of JW appear every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on GoComics!
